About: Aside from being know for his outstanding post-race jacket collection Miles holds a number of serious accolades to his name, prior to coming to Nor'Easter. To list a few: All-State HS-XC MVP in 2005, 7x state champion, The 2006 Maine Gatorade track and field athlete of the year. And if that wasn't enough he track and field at the University of Maine Orono, and is the school record holder in the 3000m steeplechase (8:53.69).  

 

Outside of OCR the soon-to-be Dr. Barlett is studying "skeletal muscle bioenergetics and the control of oxidative metabolism" If you can figure that out please let us know.

 

Training for Miles consists of a finely tuned traditional strength workout coupled with appropriate aerobic training, as he preps for competition he includes more functional training to mimic movements found on the courses. With OCRWC offering a "sprinters" course this year Miles has dedicated his training to focusing in on the short distance events. With his academic, collegiate background Miles is shaping up to be a serious dark-horse contender for 2016

 

Fun Fact: Miles will be making an attempt to make the next US Olympic team for the steeplechase!
